Description

Dense, thorny shrub, one to two meters high. The purple leaves are small, oval, 12-24 mm long and 3-15 mm wide. The yellow flowers have a diameter of 5 to 6 mm and are arranged in an umbel inflorescence; flowering occurs in spring or early summer. The fruits, are edible berries, are bright red or orange in color, 7-10 mm long and 4-7 mm wide, contain one seed. These berries ripen in late summer and, after falling to the ground, persist throughout winter.The most common style is the informal vertical (Moyogi), although it adapts to many others.
