From Latin Quercus = oak and Robur = hard wood. Robust tree, of majestic bearing, which can exceed 40 m in height. The leaves lack a majority of bristles in their lobes, which are usually rounded. Acorns mature in six months and have a sweet and slightly bitter taste. It is found from sea level to about 1000 m, in deep and fresh soils, mainly in those devoid of lime and somewhat humid. It requires a humid, oceanic climate, where summer drought is little accused and is somewhat resistant to cold. The most common style is the informal vertical (Moyogi)."
