Description
Also known as vermilion pine, in reference to the color of its bark at the top of the trunk. It can reach 30 m and grows rapidly. It withstands full sun, droughts and frosts, but not shade or muddled terrain. It works well in bonsai and adapts to many styles, the most common being the curved informal upright (Moyogi), windswept (Fukinagashi) and semi-cascade (Han-Kengai).
