Description
Slow-growing tree native to central Japan, where it reaches 35 m tall with a trunk up to one meter in diameter. The bark is dark reddish brown and the leaves are dark green scaly and rounded tip (obtuse). More than 200 varieties are grown, not all suitable for bonsai. The most common style is the informal vertical (Moyogi), although it suits many others.
