Shrub plant of the family of rosaceae of perennial or semi-perennial character and very resistant. The trunk is greyish brown, with spiny branches. Leathery, toothed, lanceolate, alternate and bright on the beam leaves. Its flowers are white, small and very abundant. The fruits can be red, orange or yellow; remain on the branches during the winter and feed numerous birds. It adapts to many styles, the most common being the curved informal upright (Moyogi), windswept (Fukinagashi) and semi-cascade (Han-Kengai).
