Description
Native to central Europe, it is the only European conifer that loses its needles in winter. Very resistant to cold, it likes well-drained soils. It reaches 45 m. Its cup is conical. The needles are light green and turn yellow in autumn. Its typical shape is formal vertical (Chokkan) and forest (Yose-ue).
